AIDS, Education and developing a real economic infrastructure, for this reason the average wage in Botswana is more than 4 times that of other African countries. Diamonds have helped this country to diversify into many other service industries and they continue to benefit its people.
De Beers have so much faith in the country of Botswana they have closed their London diamond sorting facility and opened the world's most technologically advanced diamond sorting facility in Gaborone, at this facility alone it employs over 600 people in a joint venture with the government.
